What’s The Best PR Management Software?

Choosing the right Public Relations software solution for a company is an important consideration with so many different types of media to monitor and a cohesive digital voice to maintain. In PR, there has always been high focus on maintaining quality media databases and monitoring tools to increase the efficiencies of staff and work closely with the media. Before the explosion of social media, keeping track of a company’s online presence consisted of monitoring the company’s website, mentions in well-known, online news sites and industry trade publications or using online search tools such as Google Alerts. Now, with the proliferation of thousands of social channels across the Internet, monitoring a company’s placements has become overwhelmingly difficult.

There are two major competitors in the PR software market, Vocus and Cision, which help public relations and marketing professionals engage journalists, identify online influencers, monitor social networks and track the effectiveness of their communications programs.

Vocus
Vocus provides a rich set of tools for traditional and social media monitoring, media outreach and news distribution. Its software includes five primary components: a media contacts database, news monitoring and management, social media monitoring and management, reporting and analysis, and press release/pitch distribution. The company’s built-from-the-ground-up monitoring tools cover more than 50,000 traditional media outlets, every major social media site and 20 million blogs. Through PRWeb, Vocus offers extensive news distribution and tracking capabilities.
Cision
Cision is a Web-based solution that allows professionals to build media lists, distribute press releases, manage PR campaigns, monitor news coverage and analyze results. Cision combines its own PR tracking capabilities built on the former Bacon’s clipping service with a white-labeled version of Radian6 to provide markets and PR professionals with a complete view of brand mentions and trends across traditional and social media. Cision utilizes a customizable communication dashboard that offers integrated access to the Bacon’s Media Database and Cision monitoring and productivity tools. The three editions of the Cision platform – Cision Enterprise, Cision Professional and Cision Small Business – make Cision’s integrated, on-demand media research, distribution, monitoring and analysis tools available to a wide base of marketing and public relations professionals.

Public relations have been defined by some as, “Using the news to portray positive stories about your company or products, making certain you have a good quality connection with your local media representatives.”
Public relations cannot do what they require to do without the press. Professionals in the business spend the majority of their time sustaining their relationships with journalists and other media representatives as well as forming latest ones. Journalists though can attain hundreds of press releases a week from a range of different PR sources. They are more likely on the other hand, to pay consideration to persons from an already established and dependable source. To win the trust of a journalist, a PR professional needs to issue a press release that is aimed at the journalists specific expertise or area. There has to be a newsworthy story in it though, or else it will just simply be ignored.

Public relations aren’t just about getting you out there by using news and media anymore though. You still need to be credible and respect the public individual. What does this represent? You need to study with intelligence, why not actually talk to people and enquire how they distinguish your campaign. You need to make certain that what you are putting out there is relevant and above all makes sense to the public. Explain everything in terms they will understand because after all, if your public don’t understand your campaign, it’s not going to be a great deal of a campaign is it.

I don’t know if it’s the best, but I prefer Sony Sound Forge. It’s a great application and is easy to learn and use. However, the features of it are practically limitless. Between that and Sony Acid Pro, I can pretty much create any track or mix I want.

Another great software, though used mainly for creating loops and audio is a program called Fruity Loops. I’ve used it only for a short bit, however it hasn’t been enough to be able to give a thorough description on it.

If you check out http://tucows.com/Windows/AudioVideo/Audio/AudioEditors/ there is a complete listing of Audio Editors along with reviews and ratings.

Question by gaga_chick: How important is it for a marketing person interning at a high-tech co. to learn tech? What’s the fastest way?
I think the offer letter has been sent and I am a little scared since the products include Software, Operating Systems, Application Development, Storage, Servers, Desktops, Consulting & IT Services, System Options, Network & Security Products, etc. etc. all of which I only know enough to get by as your average computer user.
Any tips on how to attain the most amount of knowledge as fast as possible? Like a cliffnotes type thing for the tech world? :)
Thanks a million!
