Publish a Book For Free Online
Before going online to publish a book, a person must of course create one. A word processing program can help you write the book and an art program or photo editing software can help create the book. Suggested material are PDF creation software such as an older affordable copy of Adobe Acrobat or similar PDF creation software(although this might not work for the cover), Microsoft Word or similar program–Open Office is a good option otherwise, and Paint can be used to create the cover although there are other programs that work just as well. If you don’t have PDF creation software at all, there exist websites online to help create the PDFs or you can try a freeware site.
When you go online to start the book making process, there may be certain guidlines you have to follow for book publication. The book size you choose must dictate the page size in your word processor. Options to change size should be available in most modern software programs and your art or photo editing software. You can just simply use a regular page size as the writing will be off and not compatible with the book publisher’s software online.
There are many great self publication sites on the web and a few are free. Some suggested ones are Createspace.com, Lulu.com, and Cafepress.com. Createspace is an excellent option for those who want to put their book directly on Amazon.com for sale. It also has many book sizes and options. The drawback is you have to order a proof copy before published which costs a minimal fee. Others have recommended that Lulu is n excellent self-publishing service to me. Cafepress allows for book publishing and this can directly be sold in a free online shop they provide for you.
As far as marketing for the book goes, a lot of self-advertising work will likely have to go into it. Somes option are to post the book for sale on your own website, on your social network profile, on your blog, classified advertising, and find a related site that is willing to let others know about your book and not consider it spam. If you choose to market it locally, you may have to purchase copies at wholesale and find places willing to sell works by local authors. The land option depends on how much time, effort, and money you have to spend on getting your book out there.
Good luck with your book! I hope that your book sells well and you get many copies into circulation!
