An Introduction to Technical Analysis Software
Technical analysis software ensures that the rates are converted to graphs, which in turn are fitted with trendlines and indicators. As a rule, TA software itself has a wide range of indicators, and more comprehensive packages. It enables analysis of price movements of stocks, bonds and options, and other tradable instruments.
Quotes
There are different types of rates:
* End-of-day quotes
* Real-time Quotes
* Delayed quotes
The end-of-day quotes are passed at the end of the trading, they usually contain the Open, High, Low and Closing price for the day of the stock concerned. These rates are mainly used by private investors who do not have time all day to monitor rates.
The quotes are real quotes which are relayed directly from the stock market through the course provider on the screen of the user. Each transaction in the stock market is forwarded directly. It is also possible for the entire order book, all bid and ask orders on the stock to be passed through. This is usually falls under:
* Prices Level I + first low bid and ask prices
* Level II Quotes + all bid and offer rates (order book)
The delayed quotes work the same way as the real-time quotes, but with a delay of 15 to 20 minutes. The reason for this delay lies in the fact that the transmission of price bears information copyright privileges.
Scanners allow users to ‘scan’ the stock market in relation to stocks, options, currencies among others, in a bid to distinguish investment opportunities which satisfy the user’s particular investment criteria.
