could anyone tell me about the role of MBA guy in marketing or business development dept in software industry?

hai friends im pursuing my final MBA (Marketing). as of my course im supposed to do my final year project. im interested in software marketing. im confused that without a computer science background can i get a project in IT sector. And is there any possibility to be get placed in the industry where i do my project?

Yes, you should be able to do pursue a career in the software marketing career without a computer science background. However, you may be expected to have some knowledge on the IT Industry.

We suggest the following:
• Pick up relevant courses related to IT in your MBA program such as "IT Marketing", "Outsourcing and IT Based Businesses", "Creating Business Value through Analytics", "Digital Strategy", "Financial Valuation of Technology Business", "Technology Strategy Consulting ", "Mobile Policy and M-Commerce", etc.
• Also, talk to some people (alumni, linkedin) from the software marketing space and understand the expectations.

Few of the jobs that you can target are:
• Global business development for IT/ITeS companies
• Programme manager at a IT services company
• Marketing manager of a large mobile operator
• Data driven analytics expert for marketing and finance
• Internet and e-commerce product managers for Web 2.0 companies
• M-commerce specialist for emerging enterprises
• Valuation analyst at a private equity/VC company with a focus on high-tech
• IT strategy consultant specializing in smart-sourcing
• IT strategy consultant specializing in ROI, business value of IT, and risk management
• IT strategy consultant specializing in governance and contracts design

Yes. Most software companies need marketing experts. If you can speak the language of business persons, the software companies can train you in computers in just a few days. It depends on how good you are in marketing.
