Too often they will attempt too broad of niche in their early marketing career. It is very common that I get a new marketing student who already has a website created but gets no traffic. The site is more often than not targeting an area online which is simply too broad. The beginner does not have the skills yet required to compete in such a large area of the Internet. Building a successful home based online business usually requires the selection first of a very small niche which the beginners skill will allow them to compete in. Later, as their online skill grows, they can expand the site into possible larger niches. Online marketing success requires finding a product or service with which income can be earned AND the ability to get traffic to the created website. Zero traffic means no income. There is no trickle down effect when it comes to choosing too large of online niche.
