Yes you will need some type of hosting you can host your own site, but your servers will be terrible and that will cost at least $500. There are some free web host like weebly.com webs.com and my favorite 000webhost.com. They are all completely free! If this just sounds way to confusing just visit http://www.asearcha.com/ they are a web design company. They design you site for something like $20, while you do nothing. You also only pay if you like what they made for you!
References :
http://www.weebly.com/

You can transfer obviously but you need to know some techniques of those. It will be better if you take some help from web design or graphic design or web site hosts. Here I give you a sample company link:

http://business-web-hosting.org

You can visit it if you want.
References :
Hosting is what you need in the first place - it is a service where you pay a monthly or annual fee to someone who operates one or more web servers.

Once you are setup with hosting, and you become familiar with uploading files (i.e. HTML pages) to your hosting account on the web server, you will be able to browse to whatever domain name you've chosen and view your pages there. The specific tool to use is up to you. Some people use a simple editor like MS Notepad and a free FTP program to do the uploads, while others use WYSIWYG editors like Dreamweaver and Frontpage, where the editing, uploading and other useful features are included.
